Unearthing the Shabby Traces of the Recent Past, acrylic on folds of the canvas, sunlight, artificial light, 100 cm x 80 cm, 2017
Unearthing the Shabby Traces of the Recent Past is a painting in which the artist’s Kunstwollen is limited to what was found and decided to be (re)confirmed. The canvas was found with multiple creases due to uncareful folding; the lightning in which the painting was created was compromised of a few night lamps and two fairly big windows causing sharp shadows. The colour pallette was limited to the few painting materials left behind in the room where the canvas was found, not taken to the art studio. What could be considered casual traces and scarse availibility of materials is actually there due to previous acts, and it forms a hyper realistic representation of itself, maintaining the vitality inherent to the object. The initial acts are made protagonists following the lines defined by different light sources at different times of the day.
