La Pietà, A structure of brick, stone, etc., that surrounds an area or separates one area from another, is an artwork that exists between its initial and final stage, underlining the complementary coexistence of the concept and the material in the process of making. The over-arching idea takes place in its basic matter during a long mechanical process of moulding where the potential of its repetitive continuation has been interrupted by the destruction of the image it had produced. These two approaches of creating are complementary, just as the primary substances they operate in; the immaterial and the tangible. Therefore, they don’t just coexist but define each other. The artwork, caught between their natures, stands for itself and is taken out of the temporality.
